Jumpstart your career in the cattle feeding industry with the Friona Industries 2027 Feedyard Internship Program!

Our internship program is designed to provide students with hands-on, real-world experience while learning the feedyard business from the ground up. Interns will work alongside experienced team members, gain exposure to daily feedyard operations, and develop a better understanding of how each department works together to support cattle health, performance, and overall yard success.

Throughout the internship, you will gain experience across key areas of feedyard operations, including:

  • Cattle: Learn cattle processing, receiving, animal health practices, and day-to-day cattle management.
  • Yard: Gain experience with pen maintenance, equipment, water systems, logistics, and other essential yard operations.
  • Mill: Learn how feed is received, processed, mixed, and managed while gaining exposure to feed quality and ration preparation.
  • Feed Delivery: Understand bunk management, feed delivery, and how accurate feeding practices impact cattle performance and well-being.
  • Office: Gain exposure to the records, data, reporting, and administrative processes that support successful feedyard operations.

Because this is a hands-on rotational internship, your daily start time will reflect the normal start time of the department you are assigned to during each rotation. Start times may vary throughout the internship as you rotate between departments, giving you an authentic experience of each team's daily operations.

In addition to your day-to-day experience, each intern will be assigned a project at their feedyard that allows them to identify an opportunity, research a solution, and apply what they have learned throughout the summer. At the end of the internship, interns will travel to our Corporate Office to present their final projects to Friona Industries leadership.

The internship is also an opportunity to build your career with Friona Industries. Top-performing interns may be considered for future full-time opportunities and could receive a job offer at the conclusion of the program.

Interns should be ready to work hard, get their hands dirty, ask questions, and learn from every department. This is an immersive experience designed for students who want to better understand the cattle feeding industry and explore a future career with Friona Industries.

This is a paid internship, and applicants must be willing to work at one of our locations in Kansas or Texas.

If you are motivated to learn, willing to take on new challenges, and ready to gain meaningful industry experience, we encourage you to apply for the 2027 Friona Industries Feedyard Internship Program!
